Chapel Street Business Improvement District
The Chapel Street Area Business Improvement District (BID) Ballot closed on 28th February 2007. I have attached a copy of the official ballot results for your information.
A strong majority of businesses voted to support the BID. However, for a BID plan to be adopted the majority of businesses voting has to vote in favour both by number and by rateable value. It was on this second condition that the BID ballot was unsuccessful.
The actual ballot results were:
Turnout: 56%
Businesses in favour: 64%
Rateable Value in favour: 42%
We have really listened to businesses in developing this plan and the high percentage of positive votes is an indication of their strong support.
The Chapel Street Area BID Management Group would like to thank all the businesses that supported this important initiative. The BID Management Group, and many other Chapel Street Area businesses, remain absolutely convinced that the aims and objectives of the BID Plan are essential for the future retail success of the Chapel Street Area.
Although the BID will not be implemented, we will soon begin working with all Chapel Street Area retailers to plan the management of the new, pedestrianised environment for the benefit of all businesses and their customers.
